Cold and Flu Medicine Theraflu’s Poetic Spot Calls Out Sick Day Inequalities
Theraflu Partners with Wunderman Thompson to launch Rest & Recover Fund Campaign - to Help More Americans Take a Sick Day When Needed
GSK Consumer Healthcare's Theraflu has created a $150,000 microgrant program in partnership with Good+Foundation to help cover lost wages from 1,000 unpaid sick days this cold and flu season. The Rest & Recover Fund will provide relief for those facing access barriers to sick time and raise awareness of the cultural stigma associated with taking a sick day. To illustrate sick time inequities, Theraflu partnered with Wunderman Thompson to create a short film featuring an Emmy Award-winning poet and activist, who wrote and performed a poem, titled Some Heroes – an ode to hardworking Americans everywhere who struggle with access to rest.
This campaign launches an ongoing purpose driven effort by Theraflu to help create a flu safe world for all Americans. At the core, this means helping to ensure more Americans can access the rest and recovery time they need to get better and prevent the spread of cold and flu.
“GSK is on a mission to make healthcare more accessible to everyone,” said Cass Zawadowski, VP, executive creative director at Wunderman Thompson Canada. “Theraflu leads that charge with a movement that aims to make rest and recovery a right, not a privilege. At Wunderman Thompson, storytelling is central to our craft. Bringing the Rest & Recover Fund initiative to life through our creative campaign was an incredibly purposeful project for our team. Authenticity was central to this campaign, with this in mind we told this story from the perspective of Black and Latina women who are most affected by not having the privilege of sick time.”
This campaign is running on social and digital channels.
