Young directors offered chance to work on live briefs and direct branded content
Young directors searching for a way to break into the creative industries are being invited to apply for a six-month paid internship at Cheil UK, where they can work on live briefs and direct their own branded content film for one of the agency’s clients.
The winning applicant will work within Cheil UK’s creative department and get the chance to work on some of the world’s most famous brands including Samsung and Nivea. It is a great chance to get insights into the entire creative process, from pitching for work to developing and delivering projects. The internship starts on 7 January 2019.
To apply, candidates submit a short film they have made – including music videos, documentaries and social media clips – which best demonstrates their skillset as a filmmaker, along with a description of their production skills. Entries close at midnight on 30 November 2018. Shortlisted applicants will then be interviewed.
It is the third time Cheil UK has offered the internship, the idea of executive creative director Russ Schaller as a way of helping the next generation of filmmakers while building a department focused on making best-in-class social content.
Chris Lee, the current intern, said: “Working in-house at Cheil has been an eye-opening insight into the ongoing work and dedication behind the scenes. I’m enjoying the problem solving aspect to the role, working closely with the creative team, and creating some awesome content.”
Russ said: “This internship is a chance for us to reach out to a diverse group of talent and help someone get some real, hands-on directing experience and hopefully move on to the next stage in their career as a result. At the same time we get enthusiasm and fresh perspectives, so it really is a win-win.”
Joining Russ Schaller on the judging panel are Lisa & Chloe, creative directors film at Cheil UK, and Sheridan Thomas, global executive producer at Great Guns.
