Dell Tackles Growing E-Waste with Recycling Initiative for Global Recycling Day
As sustainability and environmental impact come into focus as some of the most important issues of the future, Dell Technologies is ramping up their sustainability efforts to reach their goal of 'One product reused or recycled for every product sold by 2030.' Dell is launching its 'E-Waste Happens' campaign on the heels of Global Recycling Day, and in advance of Earth Day next month.
E-waste is now the fastest growing domestic waste stream in the world. Created in partnership with VMLY&R, the campaign shows how simple it is to recycle e-waste with Dell Technologies' convenient recycling solutions. Just put your ready-to-recycle devices in a box, print out a free shipping label, and mail it to Dell Technologies.
Dog chew your charger? Toddler drop your tablet in the fish tank? The ‘E-Waste Happens’ campaign uses relatable mishaps to show how easy it is to create e-waste by accident, followed up by simple instructions on how to send your e-waste to Dell.
The campaign was built on the insight that we generate around 50 million tons of e-waste a year, and less than 20% is responsibly recycled. Consumers and business leaders want to make a positive impact on the world, but need to overcome inertia to make a change, especially when it comes to the challenge of recycling their e-waste safely and responsibly.
The work follows Dell’s ‘Box it Up’ campaign, which makes diverting toxic e-waste from landfills as straightforward as sending a package through the mail, with simple animations that turn any space into a box.
