The bottle is fully biodegradable and sustainably sourced from natural materials
Ethical water company Choose Water and global brand company venturethree have unveiled a new identity for the world’s first plastic-free water bottle.
The new brand was created by venturethree as Choose Water build a movement against single-use plastic in the lead up to their consumer launch. The identity takes inspiration from the ocean, with distinct marine animal silhouettes and a simple, sophisticated colour palette to complement the bottle’s natural materials.
The revolutionary bottle is fully biodegradable and sustainably sourced from natural materials. Once disposed of – should the bottle end up in either landfill or the sea – the bottle takes just a couple of months to degrade into a substance beneficial to ocean life. It doesn’t require fossil fuels to produce, and is made with completely non-toxic and naturally occurring materials.
The bottle is the brain-child of 27-year-old chemistry graduate James Longcroft who created Choose Water following a hugely successful crowdfunding campaign in May 2018.
Richard Blanshard, Managing Director and Partner at venturethree, said: “We’re proud to have built the brand for the first 100% plastic free biodegradable water bottle. Since its crowdfunding campaign – along with support from Sky Ocean Ventures – Choose Water has developed and refined this revolutionary bottle, and we’re excited to finally see it come out of the lab and into the real world.
“The brand illustrates James’ and Choose Water’s vision to be friendly, not fear-mongering. It’s also important that Choose Water is seen as a positive global movement: the result is a bright, clean and simple brand that works with the bottle’s natural dyes and materials to emulate the purpose of this very special enterprise.”
Founder James said: “After a year and a half of trial and error, we have finally launched the world’s first fully-biodegradable water bottle, as well as an ambitious and beautiful brand identity.
“We now enter our extended pilot scheme to further develop the bottle. Once completed, we aim to grow our production capacity to several million bottles by the end of 2019. venturethree has been a collaborative creative partner throughout this process, building a brand that lives up to our product’s huge ambition, as well as one that reflects our own values. We love the results and look forward to encouraging more people to choose water, not plastic.”
The bottles will be available to the public for the first time from this week.
