Virtual Gallery Opens Doors for Artistic Creations of People in a Locked Down World

Creatives from RAPP UK launch virtual gallery to showcase lockdown artwork and crafting, encouraging fundraising for the NHS

Virtual Gallery Opens Doors for Artistic Creations of People in a Locked Down World

The nation’s lockdown art and craft creations are being showcased in a new, virtual exhibition dubbed the In Isolation Gallery – the idea of Anthea Goodrick and Katie Carruthers, creative directors at the marketing agency RAPP UK.

They realised that there was a huge amount of work being created all over the country while everyone is confined to their homes, and decided that rather than seeing it disappear into recycling bins, it could be celebrated – and curated to form a visual record of our country in lockdown.

The exhibition is viewable on Instagram, and people enjoying the work on display can show their appreciation by donating to the gallery’s Go Fund Me to raise money for NHS Charities Together. Anthea and Katie said: “We wanted to create a home for all those little pieces of creativity and magic that document these unprecedented times. The In Isolation Gallery is a space for all those paintings, pipe cleaners, bits of cardboard and clay that we know are coming together behind closed doors to make wonderful works of art. Instead of ending up in landfill, what if they could inspire others and raise money for those on the NHS frontline?”

To participate, people can either send their work via DM on Instagram or post with the hashtag #InIsolationGallery for a chance to make it into the official collection. Everyone - from three-year-olds to professionals - is invited to take part. Artists can also donate a piece of work to sell and all the profits will go to the fundraiser.
