Why KFC Is Being Served at My Christmas Dinner Table

INFLUENCER: Curious Productions' Mark Grosvenor shares his thoughts on this year’s Christmas ad offerings

Why KFC Is Being Served at My Christmas Dinner Table

With that time of year rapidly closing in on us, the lads and lasses at Curious have downed tools to share our thoughts on the latest and greatest Christmas campaigns.

Starting at the top with the first biggie out of the blocks, John Lewis brings us an Elton John bio with all the high-quality production values we’ve come to expect from John Lewis ad. A sweet little gift for life idea that’s nicely executed - but you can’t help thinking that it may have also worked with someone who’s life’s work had a more profound effect on the world...

But then who doesn’t love Elton!

Sainsbury's served up a kid’s concert which hits the sweet spot and is littered with lovely gags (the plug socket is genius). Heart-warming and rich but sadly, being compared with John Lewis' earlier rebrand spot.

If you’re looking for something fun and completely different then TK Maxx have cracked it. A never-ending animated Christmas stocking burping out presents all year round. Full of chaos and energy and appealing to kids and adults alike.

With most of us dreaming of flying to somewhere hot for Christmas, Heathrow want to fly us back for the traditional festivities at home. Slushy and sweet, our hero animated bears can’t wait to get out of the heat and back to their family at home. Hits all the right places but feels quite familiar.

I’m not a massive fan of spoof ads but Aldi have created something genuinely quite funny featuring Kevin the Carrot. Leaning heavily on a large cola brand and a famous Michael Caine film, Kevin gets himself in a spot of bother

My personal favourite has to be KFC. A simple idea. An epic soundtrack. Fantastic CG animation. Executed brilliantly. We’ll definitely be having KFC for Christmas dinner this year!
