The moment it all came together for me was on a blazingly hot August Sunday in 1988.  I was videotaping my brother do an “ollie” on his skateboard while the boombox was blasting a Beastie Boys cassette.  My brother’s ollie hit on the exact beat as the song which hit me in the gut.

Right then and there I decided I want to make movies and videos.

Since then I went on to make skate and snowboarding videos, worked at Miramax, wrote for Transworld Skateboarding, edited commercials at Go Robot and theatrically released an award winning feature documentary.

Then a producer at Google gave me my first paid directing gig which locked it all in place for me.

As a director I’ve fallen in love with a docu-style, real person aesthetic that I continue to improve upon and challenge myself with to this day.

I love shooting.  Whether it’s in the streets of NYC, a soundstage in Jersey, an abandoned church in Eastern Europe or the rainforests of Madagascar.  As a bonus, I can cut my own work which helps tremendously on and off the set.

No matter the project, product, people or budget, I am always looking to push visual boundaries and challenge myself to get the most human emotions possible on video.

This is also why I’m not trying to pretend that someone else wrote this for me in the third person.
