Jeff Varga has developed comprehensive skills in almost every capacity of the Hollywood motion picture & TV industry for over 20 years.
As a Director, he excels at crafting captivating stories, inspiring the best performances from actors and by knowing exactly how to use the camera and lights to paint the most visually rich palette of cinematic artistry. His style sets signature tones of mood and sometimes quirky humor.
He won Best Director at the 2010 StayTunedTV Awards in Burbank California for the awarding winning sci fi noir vfx series Dead End City starring Gary Graham (Star Trek: Enterprise, Alien Nation).
His feature film Bottom Feeders Inc. won Best Cinematography at the Huntington Beach Int'l Festival. His comedy video Time Warp News Report generated more than 3 times its investment in the home video market within 6 months.
Jeff has directed a variety of commercials including Doritos (2), Smirnoff, Electrolux, AT&T and virals such as Love Power Up. During 2012-13 he has been directing commercials worldwide and shot and edited all the promo's for Chef Martin Yan's, Taste of Vietnam (Yan Can Cook). Mr. Varga has worked as an Executive Producer with such clients as JWT, Lowe, Y&R, Bates, BBDO, Leo Burnett, Ogilvy & Mather and TBWA.
Jeff is as skilled in the creative aspects of production and post production as he is in the technical and business side of the industry. He set-up and run several production and post-production companies in Los Angeles. He's budgeted dozens of movies and advised numerous Producers on development and production as well as marketing and sales. Recently he brokered the deal for IPA Asia Pacific Distribution, acquiring rights to the sci fi film Once Upon A Time in Vietnam, which was sold internationally.
He has worked with ABC, CBS, NBC, WB, UPN, CAROLCO, DISNEY, SONY, MGM, 20th CENTURY FOX, PARAMOUNT, and UNIVERSAL among many others and has worked on TV shows including STAR TREK ENTERPRISE, GILMORE GIRLS, MALCOLM IN THE MIDDLE and numerous DISNEY CHANNEL series and movies.
He shares in the achievement of Academy Awards for special/visual effects for numerous movies and TV shows. Jeff has worked with James Cameron on several of his movies supervising for Terminator II and designing for THE ABYSS. He has created visual effects for I ROBOT, BLADE 3, 50 FIRST DATES, ANCHORMAN, SPIDERMAN II, MR. & MRS. SMITH, FANTASTIC 4 and LIVE FREE OR DIE HARD among 22 others. He was the VFX Supervisor for 4 episodes of ABC's NO ORDINARY FAMILY TV show in 2010.
In other parts of the industry he has produced, directed and edited for top infomercial Producers such as Peter Bieler, Patrick Raymond and Richard Allen who acquired the Ronco empire. He created a 15 minute museum theater presentation for billionaire Peter Mullin's private automotive museum in Oxnard CA.
Presently, partnered with Producer Ira Besserman at Adventures in Film in Burbank, Jeff has been developing and packaging several feature films that he is passionate about directing and is assisting in the launch of a new satellite news network.
