Due to a cultural heritage, many people in the world wash their clothes in the rivers. In Peru, this tradition is attributed to its Inca origin, and doing so is also an opportunity for socialization among the women of the villages. Unfortunately, the soap they use contributes to the contamination of the river on which they depend.

Therefore, ANDEA (water brand of Cusco) and its creative agency Fahrenheit DDB, decided to draw upon the thousands of people who wash clothes in the rivers to begin a decontamination process. After months of research together with Cirsys (a Peruvian innovation start-up), they found a microorganism capable of feeding on pollutants from the river. Introducing them in bars of soap, they created “AWA: the soap that cleans the rivers.
